
Bavarian Cream Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Fresh berries for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat milk over medium heat
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with sugar and cornstarch
- Gradually add hot milk to egg mixture, whisking constantly
- Return mixture to saucepan and cook until thickened
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt
- In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water
- Let sit for 5 minutes until softened
- Add gelatin to hot custard and stir until dissolved
- Let cool to room temperature
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks
- Fold whipped cream into custard
- Pour into serving dishes and refrigerate for 2 hours
