
Corn Pone Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
- In large bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt
- Add baking soda
- In separate bowl, beat buttermilk, oil, egg, and sugar
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients
- Mix until just combined
- Pour into greased 8-inch square pan
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden
- Brush with melted butter
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes
- Cut into squares
