Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C)
  2. In large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
  3. Add cold butter and cut in until mixture resembles crumbs
  4. In separate bowl, beat cream, egg, lemon zest, and lemon juice
  5. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients
  6. Mix until dough forms
  7. Turn onto floured surface and knead gently
  8. Roll out to 1-inch thickness
  9. Cut into 8 wedges
  10. Place on greased baking sheet
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden
  12. Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice for glaze
  13. Drizzle over cooled scones
