
Mamajuana Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 bottle rum (750ml)
- 1 bottle red wine (750ml)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 vanilla bean, split
- 1/4 cup dried herbs (anise, oregano, thyme)
- 1/4 cup tree bark (guayacan, palo santo)
- 1/4 cup roots (ginger, ginseng)
Instructions
- In a large jar, combine rum and red wine
- Add honey and brown sugar
- Stir until sugar dissolves
- Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, and vanilla bean
- Add dried herbs, tree bark, and roots
- Mix well to combine all ingredients
- Let steep for at least 2 hours
- Strain through a fine mesh sieve
- Store in a clean bottle
- Serve over ice or neat
