Ingredients
- 3 large sweet onions
- 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions
- Slice onions into 1/2-inch thick rings and separate.
- Set up three bowls: flour in first, buttermilk in second, and breadcrumbs mixed with cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper in third.
- Dredge onion rings in flour, then buttermilk, then breadcrumb mixture.
- Place on a wire rack and let rest for 15 minutes.
- Heat 2 inches of oil in a large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry onion rings in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Season with additional salt if needed.
- Serve immediately with ranch dressing.
