
Porcupine Meatball Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup uncooked rice
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup onion, diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- In large bowl, mix ground beef, rice, and breadcrumbs
- Add egg, onion, garlic, and seasonings
- Mix until well combined
- Shape into 1 1/2-inch balls
- In large skillet, brown meatballs on all sides
- Remove meatballs and set aside
- Add tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce
- Return meatballs to skillet
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer
- Cook for 25-30 minutes until rice is tender
- Serve hot
